I'm testing foundation. What is their level on portrait drawing? How flexiblable they are on new techniques ?
I have been teaching for 15 years and started a new program at a new school (for me) I'm trying to evaluate my art 3 and 4 so I can develop possible ap kids for next year and give seniors a base if they continue art in college.

I get asked a lot how I grade... So here we go.... This is an Art 2 class so I am expecting higher level thinking and that the students can apply the processes and techniques. I score on a 0-5 scale. 3 is meeting expectations. When giving students their grades. I type it up, insert the black and white picture, and tell them how to improve the picture.... All re grades are due at the 8 week mark.
I want students to improve.... that makes for better upper level students. It is more work ....but worth it in the end. First project for my Art 2 class. students studied fabric, shadows and highlights using complements and analogous colors, positive and negative space, and finally oil pastels techniques. erase lines before coloring white!!!
Shelby made a 5 on her AP portfolio in drawing. These are examples of some of her breadth and concentration pieces (concentration theme...expressions) All of these pieces are focused on mark making and oil pastels.
Tomorrow should prove interesting. In on block scheduling.
1st block - art 2 (21 students) project "old glory" oil pastels Art 3 (6 students) project "marble challenge" in Prisma colors Art 4 (4 students) project " marble challenge" in Prisma colors 2nd block art 1 (35 students ) project line and shape practice sheets to ZEN Doodle 4th block art 1 (34 students ) same as above A.P - 2D. (1 student ) marble for Breadth. |
